Tesla’s Cybertruck Futuristic Design – electric vehicle that dodge bullets

We all know Tesla cars are flagbearers in the electric car market today, although they are available in some countries only now. Tesla cars are good to look at, self-driven, but this new upcoming model by Tesla is just mind-boggling. Yes, we are talking about the Cybertruck which is gonna be the first electric pickup truck by the company.

Heavy-duty Structural Design

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, unveiled the mesmerizing Cybertruck at a Tesla event last year and since then it has been turning heads. The futuristic pickup truck is designed by Musk and the designer of Tesla, Franz von Holzhausen. The heavy-duty truck can be called a mini-tank as it comes with bulletproof armor glass and Ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless-steel. Its exteriors are made with a sturdy frame and reinforced glass. The frame has an exoskeleton shell design that gives it durability and protects passengers. It has vault-like storage space with a capacity to keep 3500 lbs (1500 kgs) of stuff. The adaptive air suspension with self-leveling capabilities can move the vehicle four inches in either direction.

Strange pointy Triangular Roof Design

As posted by Musk himself on Twitter, the design is influenced partly by The Spy Who Loved Me.

The Cybertruck is way more than a just radical design for an electric pickup truck with futuristic car features like the Autopilot (available in all Tesla cars). Its triangular roof design may make a lot of people think about its extremely simple straight-line design and pointy tip, but the strange triangular design actually would have made the car weight distribution much better. The simple design will also be cost-effective and easy to manufacture especially when the car is built with a sturdy frame and Ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless-steel. Bending that solid steel that is built to last, is dent and damage-proof would also be a task. Elon Musk also tweeted about the ultra-hard steel which is extremely hard to press let alone bend.

Functional Details

Even the other features apart from the body are quite detailed and match the futuristic design DNA of Cybertruck. The single bar headlight is quite simplistic yet so distinctive.

The rear lights are even more ‘straight’ forward and indicative. The vault cover is like magic and never been seen in any car. It opens and shuts down with a push of a button locking the vault completely. Even there is space under it to keep stuff.

The interiors again will have additional storage under the second-row seats. The truck interiors will comprise of a 17-inch touchscreen with an all-new user interface. We are expecting that the 2021 interiors will be way different from the one below.

Cybertruck coming in 3 models

Tesla’s Cybertruck is expected to hit the road in late-2021 and will come in 3 different models – Single Motor RWD, Dual motor AWD, and Tri-Motor AWD. The powerful electric batteries of the top model (Tri-motor AWD) can take you from 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds. These models will have different towing capacities ranging from 7500 to 14000 lbs respectively.

Also, each model will be having a different range on a single charge i.e 250 in Single Motor RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive), 300 in Dual Motor AWD (All-Wheel Drive), and 500 miles in Tri-Motor AWD respectively. The rest of the specifications are more or less similar in all models.

There are chances that the design may slightly change to an improved version that would come in 2021. Also, the armored glass will also reach a level where it doesn’t break as it did at the launch event. Will this be the design transition for future cars? Is this a new beginning of design for the pickup truck category?  There would still be many questions to the extreme design of the Cybertruck but that last question still would be – Will you be buying this electric mini-tank? Bookings have actually started!
